PARTS OF SPEECH
The words which we use are divided into various classes according to their use, and these classes are called "Parts of speech"
According to their function they do in a sentence, the parts of speech divided into eight kinds.
1)Noun:- A noun is word used as the name of a person, place or thing
ex: Neelima, Delhi , India , June, Monday etc.,
2)Pronoun:- A Pronoun is a word used instead of a Noun
ex: He,they,I, My, You, Yours, She etc.,
3)Verb:- A verb is a word used to tell some thing about some person or
thing
ex: do, go, walk, is , was etc.,
4)Adverb:- An Adverb is a word which modifies the meaning of a verb an
Adjective or another Adverb
ex: quickly, Now, Sweet, very, Quite. etc.,
5)Adjective:- An Adjective is a word used with a noun to add some thing
for its meaning.
ex: Black, short, four, little, good, white etc.,
6)Preposition:-A Preposition is a word placed before a noun or a pronoun
to show in what relation the person or thing denoted by
it stands in regard something else.
ex: on, upon, by, in, according to, instead of, etc.,
7)The Conjunction:- A Conjunction is a word which merely joins
together sentences, and sometimes words.
ex: and, but, or, for, also, neither-nor. etc.,
8)The Interjection:- An Interjection is a word which expresses
some sudden and strong feeling or emotion,
surprise, sorrow, fear
ex: hurrah, what a beautiful, alas. etc.
And then each part divided into different piece of parts
NOUN:- Proper Nouns, Common Nouns, Collective Nouns, Material
Nouns, Abstract Nouns
PRONOUN:- Personal Pronouns, Demonstrative Pronouns, Interrogative
Pronouns, Reflexive Pronouns, Distributive Pronouns, Reciprocal
Pronouns, Possessive Pronouns, Indefinite Pronouns
VERB:- Ordinary verbs, Auxiliary verbs
ORDINARY VERBS: Transitive verbs, Intransitive verbs
AUXILIARY VERBS: Principal Auxiliaries, Modal Auxiliaries
ADJECTIVES: Adjectives of quality, Adjectives of quantity, Adjectives of
Number, Interrogative adjectives, Demonstrative Adjectives
PREPOSITIONS: Simple prepositions, Compound Prepositions, Phrase Prepositions
participle prepositions, Appropriate prepositions
CONJUNCTION: coordinating conjunctions, Subordinating Conjunctions
